Intuitive customer receives prestigious award from Boeing
The Boeing Company names Scotia Technology Small Business Supplier of
the Year
Kirkland, Washington ? March 17, 2003 ?
Intuitive Manufacturing Systems, a leading provider of enterprise resource
planning software for small and medium-sized manufacturers, today
announced its customer, Scotia Technology, supplier of components for the
aircraft and aerospace industries, received The Boeing Company?s ?Small
Business Supplier of the Year? award. Mark DeVoss, General Manager,
Supplier Management and Procurement, presented this honor to Scotia on
January 22, 2003 during the Boeing Long Beach Management Association
meeting in California.
Hundreds of other companies that supply parts and services to Boeing
were considered for this prestigious award. A major factor in Scotia being
selected was that Boeing?s Commercial and Military Divisions rated Scotia
Technology with over a 99% acceptance for delivery and quality for over
27,000 parts shipped in 2002.
According to Ed Mosher, Scotia?s general manager, ?By implementing
Intuitive software, Scotia has been able to reach and maintain a quality
acceptance and delivery rating of better than 99 percent for the last
year.? When asked how Intuitive helped Scotia achieve its goals, Ed Mosher
said, ?Intuitive helped us achieve our goals in a number of areas. First
was costing. For the first time, we were able to get a firm control over
not only manufacturing cost but procurement and inventory costs. Second
was the manufacturing system allowed us to identify bottlenecks, using
LEAN and ERP to recommit our resources to increase our on time deliveries.
I am sure that if it wasn?t for the dedication of our people working with
an easy to use tool like Intuitive, we would have had a much more
difficult time winning this award.?
Being a family oriented business with a ?can-do? attitude, Scotia is
small enough to have no bureaucracy, but large enough to have systems in
place to support their customers? requirements. Several reasons for
Scotia?s successes are summed up in its mission statement: ?To offer
improved quality and service to all our customers through teamwork, mutual
respect, open communication and continuous efficient improvements.
Profitable results obtained through lean manufacturing practices are
reflected in our customers? satisfaction and in the lives of our
employees.?
